Alcor Micro Announces USB2.0 to SATA I/II Device Bridge Controller AU6395

As SATA is well on its way to becoming one of the most popular hard disk interfaces, Alcor Micro Announces a new USB2.0 to SATA Device Bridge Controller chip; P/N AU6395.

The AU6395 is a single chip controller designed for bridging USB 2.0 to the SATA bus interface. It is used as the primary controller of building an external USB 2.0 high speed hard disk or CD/DVD drives. This bridge controller chip allows users to connect their PC to an external SATA I/II storage device through the high speed USB 2.0 interface, and provide users with the convenience of the USB and SATA application interface & thir respectve easy plug-and-play features. In addition to the basic USB 2.0 to SATA bridge controller function, the AU6395 offers additional user features, with support for a Password Encryption Utility, one-touch button Backup Program, and switch selectable write lock protection to meet most OEM application/feature requirements.

To maximize the high speed data throughput and achieve the best HDD compatibility, AU6395 is equipped with Alcor’s proprietary automatic speed negotiation (ASN) algorithm. The ASN algorithm allows AU6395 to select the optimized operating mode that device can best support the highest reliable data transfer. The AU6395 is fully compatible with the default device drivers within Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista and the Mac OS X, however, additional features also enable vendor device drivers provided by Alcor Micro, that enable also allow the device to seamlessly work under Windows 98, Windows 2000 (SP1/SP2) and Mac OS 9.

Replacing the former Alcor AU6391 controller’s (USB2.0 to ATA/ATAPI-7) product experience and technology, the AU6395has updated, integrated multiple function design built into one ofIC packages, the LQFP 48-pin package. To enable the lowest BOM cost, the AU6395 now includes two power regulators (5V to 3.3V and 3.3V to 1.8V) built-in. Moreover, the AU6395 has already passed the USB-IF compliance testing, WHQL certification and also compatiblity/compliance testing of every major OEM brand hard disk and CD/DVD drive.

The AU6395 offers maximum USB2.0 to SATA I/II Bridge controller chip performance , maximum compatibility/compliant USB 2.0 high speed data transfer operation, and one of the lowest cost/highest performance solutions available for building an external USB 2.0 hard disk or CD/DVD drive solution
