The AU9362 has reduced the pin count as well as silicon cost by a massive 25% as compare to its precedent, the AU9360. “Introduction of AU9362 brings the dream of flash card reader in every desktop machine one step closer to the reality.” said Ant Lan, marketing manager at Alcor Micro. With reduced pin count, the AU9362 still supports all known flash memory card standards, such as Compact Flash (CF) card, Micro Drive (MD), Smart Media Card (SMC), XD Picture Card, Memory Stick (MS), Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo, Secure Digital (SD) and Multi Media Card (MMC).

The AU9362 runs seamlessly on Windows ME, Window 2000 (SP3), Windows XP and Mac OSX with default mass storage class driver, and works on Windows 98/98SE, Windows 2000 (SP1,SP2) using vendor driver from Alcor Micro. Additional features including an activity LED that will blink during data transfer and prevent user from accidental removal of flash card to avoid data corruption.
